The first yacht from the Vannes-Horta-Vannes race to arrive at Horta Marina was Kikibigoudi, yesterday evening, at 9h48 pm. Britanny’s solitary sailor Goulven Guillou took nine days to make the journey from Vannes.
At 4 o’clock in the morning, Samysam crossed the finish line, manned by two.
This morning, at 9h30 am, arrived Torrpenn, led by a lone sailor, thus completing the podium of the first to arrive.
The boats started off Vannes on the 3rd July. Had they caught a tail wind, they would have arrived to Horta much sooner, but according to Armando Castro (Horta’s marina manager) the lack of wind has conditioned their arrival severely although we are already expecting two more boats on the course of this very day.
The race was designed only for Pogo 8.50 and 10.50 in 2009. However, this year, it became Rating HN. Presented in last year’s Paris Boat Show, this race is organized by the SRV - Société des Régates de Vannes while in Portugal the organization goes to Comissão Náutica Municipal da Horta (namely Clube Naval da Horta, Câmara Municipal da Horta, Administração dos Portos do Triângulo e Grupo Ocidental and Associação Regional de Vela dos Açores).
